If you feel like splurging on some frosted cels, and layer those with semitransparent paint on one another, you can have some pretty neat effects alla Yuri Norstein. Good luck! Also, in future, if you find you have too much glare, michaels framing has specialty glass that is micro-warped on the surface in such a way that it deflects rays of light away from your eye/lens so it looks extra transparent.
